Hesaam is a tenacious entrepreneur, the inventor of electronic DNA sequencing, and the CEO of GenapSys, a billion-dollar, Silicon Valley-based company. He holds a PhD in electrical engineering and an MSc in management, both from Stanford University. Hesaam’s high technical expertise and executive management experience in Silicon Valley, combined with his ambition and perseverance, make him an invaluable asset to Darmiyan.
Hesaam has disrupted the gene sequencing field as the inventor of electronic DNA sequencing, a technology he developed as a PhD student at Stanford. To realize the commercial potential of this technology, Hesaam founded GenapSys, Inc. and has dedicated the past decade of his life to the advancement and commercialization of this novel technology, which has at its core the convergence of multiple fields of science, engineering, chemistry, biology, and computing. He has raised over $240M for GenapSys in multiple rounds of financing, and is the holder of 75 worldwide patents.
When not transforming and disrupting the healthcare and genomics fields, Hesaam also serves on the board of Global Network Of Science (GNOS) Foundation, a non-profit organization whose mission is to harness the power of genetics and biotechnology towards promoting social, educational, and healthcare progress, especially for underprivileged kids. In his free time, Hesaam enjoys music, gardening, and poetry.
