From the U.S. capital for more than 20 years, Ilyse has served as a trusted advisor to leaders in journalism, at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, AARP, NCOA, ACLU, USP, Peterson-Pew Commission on Budget Reform, entrepreneurship and other influential enterprises. As a health marketing consultant, she crafted branded narrative for Georgetown University’s masters on Aging and Health, innovative communications technology such as Loro, a special issue of The Gerontologist and a series on quality medicine in Scientific American.
Currently an author with SAGE Business Publishing and a columnist about longevity, Ilyse spent more than half her career in journalism, including a decade with the PBS NewsHour. She earned an Emmy and recognition from the UCLA Anderson School of Management for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism. Additionally, Ilyse edited an 80-page journal on public management and government innovation. At the helm of that ASTD publication and podcast series, she was honored by CQ for “Changing the Debate in Washington.”
Early in her career, Ilyse served as principal researcher on The System, a book used at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government to teach about health policy campaigns. She also profiled members of Congress such as Rep. Rosa DeLauro for CQ’s Politics in America.
Ilyse graduated with honors from Yale and represented the school in Governmental Studies at the Brookings Institution, which published her research in Plagues, Products & Politics. Decades later Ilyse earned a masters in executive leadership at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Her winning capstone thesis examined the business value of intergenerational teams in the workforce, a phenomenon occurring particularly often in the health sector that she called the XYZBoom.
